"A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is the earth's eye."

- Henry David Thoreau

Home to the Giant Dragonfly, Wabamun has tons to offer. Whether you be visiting in Summer, Winter, Spring or Fall there is something to do all year long. The Giant Dragonfly is the "Spirit of Wabamun." Located on the corner of 56 avenue and 50 street, this Giant structure stands 18’ tall and 30’ wide! This artsy bug is made out of recycled material. Another great site to visit is the Wabamun District Museum.

In the winter the lake is excellent for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. All of our nature trails transform beautifully into cross-country skiing trails. Like all Canadians, we love hockey. So when the winter brings on the cold blues the Wabamun Arena is open for some indoor winter fun. If that’s still to chilly for you, gain some warmth by checking out the six-lane bowling alley.

WaterparkFor those who like to cool off in those hot summer months Wabamun has a water spray park and of course a lake. The lake offers many recreational activities including: sailing, swimming, water skiing, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, wind surfing, canoeing, ice fishing and more. Lake Wabamun has a long history of commercial fishing dating back to the early 1900's. To this day the lake is internationally renowned for white fish. But a number of other varieties of fish also make their home in the lake. The Lake Front Park includes a day use area, cookhouse, change rooms, washrooms and a 30-foot boat launch. Close by is the Wabamun Marina which was opening in 1996. This privately owned state of the art boat launch is located west of the pier and offers a deeper launching for larger sailboats.

If you’re into the great outdoors Wabamun is equipped with a variety of parks including the provincial park which has 276 sites each outfitted with 30-amp power. It includes a beach, picnic shelters, and a large day use area featuring a park for kids of all ages. Throughout the Village there are many neighborhood parks, including the Lions Park which is complete with gazebo and water fountain. We also have a number of ball diamonds, sports fields and a skateboard park recently developed for those who like their exercise. Wabamun is great for nature lovers, the shoreline and nature trails are an ideal showcase for various species of rare and common birds. From bald eagles and ospreys to hooded mergansers and even American white pelicans come enjoy the unlimited possibilities Wabamun has to offer.
